“Design” seen by a Graphic designer’s point of view

Lora Lamm creativity encourages us emulating her in the wish for summer decoration and to re-create an interior garden with some articles by MATRIX, as physical icons of the flourishing nature.

We can definitely affirm that the Swiss graphic designer Lora Lamm (Arosa 1928) was a pioneer in the fields of graphic design and visual art.

This is clearly shown in an exhibition opened last May 25th at M.A.X. Museum in Chiasso, which will remain open until July 21st: a solo show about the work of the designer who has cooperated with important brands as like La Rinascente and Pirelli, at the turn of the 50s and 60s, contributing to their image and brand definition.
Lora Lamm was not only one of the first women who ploughed through a world ruled by men, but also one the first designer who found the perfect and subtle graphic balance consists of stylized form and use of colors, which has made her style the unmistakable and unique one.
Almost all of us – even those who didn’t experience that time – remember the advertisement campaign for La Rinascente and the designer’s easiness to play at the intersection of apparel and furniture.
By using stylized shapes and water color brush strokes (the favorite media chosen by the designer) Lora Lamm was able to merge us into the fashion and accessorizes world. She could interpret the rising trends with few details, and every new Rinascente collection stood out of the ordinary.
Fashion was not the only field explored by the Swiss designer; think about the patterns designed for Pirelli, where objects not at all attractive for female customers as tires, were always advertised in a fancy and dynamic way.
Lora Lamm was familiar with the furniture field as well, thanks to her work for such an important client as La Rinascente.
In the advertisement campaign “Furnish your home in a Summer style” furniture is the main role player even when not at the centre of the scene: photo shooing and perspectives suggest us to fit our homes to the” freshness” of the coming season..

Lora Lamm creativity encourages us emulating her in the wish for summer decoration and – due to the still unfavorable weather – to re-create an interior garden with some articles by MATRIX, as physical icons of the flourishing nature. Let’s do it, for example, by using Centrino, a table made by hand welded rings top, available in a wide range of colors in order to put no limits to our imagination, creativity and fantasy. Otherwise, by using Brass table, last born in MATRIX family, with slender legs as flower stems.

The choice is wide: what would it be your MATRIX product choice to interpret the summertime?
