2016 | PAOLO PORTOGHESI

SINAPSI table designed by Paolo Portoghesi for Matrix International is an elegant variation on the table made of side frames connected by a rail. This typology spread after the rise of metal profiles and was made iconic by Le Corbusier, in 1928, with its "tube d’avion” table . The key role in this table is played by the control of the geometry.

1928 | MARCEL BREUER

The table BR19 designed in 1928 by Marcel Breuer and produced by Matrix International is still in fashion. The legs are made of chromed steel tube and the table top comes in wood or glass-finished and coated on the undersurface. This release is the only one currently in production .

In 2002 Kevin Roche donated the Eero Saarinen and Associates office archives to the Yale University Library. By inspecting the original drawings, letters and other rare materials Matrix International has discovered some new projects of Furniture Design and has deepened the study to boost their development. The result is a modular seating system designed for the lobby of the General Motors Technical Center in Detroit.

Member of the Bauhaus in 1927 Takehiko Mizutani was one of the few Japanese students to have attended school . The table has never been part of any production , even if the project in the form of pictures of models and drawings was presented in various monographic productions related to the Bauhaus furniture.

A coffee table split into two different parts , simply juxtaposed , to create more compositions , thanks to its shaped tops . Designed by Frederick Kiesler in 1935, its gives a domestic touch also to the brushed aluminum. The table was part of the furniture designed for the apartment of the textile designer Alma Mergentine in New York.
